Primary Research Interests: Mongolian literary studies, history and theory of literary criticism, translation studies, metaphorology, and methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language.
Brief Biography: Tseveen Magsar was born in Tarialan soum, Uvs Province. He graduated from the Arkhangai Province Teacher’s College in 1977, and in 1983, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Philology at the A.M. Gorky Ural State University.
Professional Career:
1983–1990: Lecturer at the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the MPRP. 1990–1992: Lecturer at the Higher Political School under the State Great Khural of the MPR. 1995–2017: Professor at the Mongolian State University of Education. 2017–2018: Visiting Professor at the Ural Federal University (UrFU) named after the first President of Russia, B.N. Yeltsin. 2019–Present: President of MONAPRYAL.
Academic and Professional Achievements:
Throughout his career in higher education, Professor Magsar has conducted extensive research in Mongolian literature. He has authored over 100 scientific works in the fields of Mongolian literature, comparative literary studies, and the theory and practice of translation, many of which have been published internationally. As a linguist, he contributed to the joint Mongolian-Russian Academy of Sciences project to compile the four-volume Academic Russian-Mongolian Dictionary.
Literary Translation:
He has translated the works of prominent Russian authors into Mongolian, including: Poetry & Prose: A.S. Pushkin, M.Yu. Lermontov, F.I. Tyutchev, S.A. Yesenin, M.A. Bulgakov, and L.S. Petrushevskaya. Scientific Works: Research by renowned Russian Mongolists such as G. Potanin, B. Vladimirtsov, and A. Samoylovich.
Awards:
He has frequently won first-place prizes and "Grand Prix" awards for excellence in translation. He is also a recipient of the A.S. Pushkin Medal, the highest international award presented by MAPRYAL.
