1972-1976 – Karl Marx University of Leipzig (GDR), Faculty of Germanistics and Culturological Sciences.
In 1983, Vera B. Merkuryeva completed postgraduate studies in Leningrad and defended her PhD thesis "Stylistic functions of Swiss-marked vocabulary (based on the material of modern works of German-Swiss literature)" (Leningrad, 1983). Scientific supervisor: Doctor of Philological Sciences, professor A.I. Domashnev.
In 2005, she completed doctoral studies at ISLU and defended her doctoral thesis “Dialect and literary language in German-language dramas: relations of complementarity and isomorphism” (Irkutsk, 2005).
Vera B. Merkuryeva is a member of the Russian Union of Germanists, a member of International Association of Researchers of History and Culture of Russian Germans (IARHCRG).
