The key research area focuses on cognitive approach to the study of  linguistic phenomena; interrelationship between thought, meaning and   linguistic  structure.

More specifically, my research explores how speakers convey meaning in discourse by recruiting grammatical, lexical  properties of the language and general  cognitive principles, how speakers  structure, shape, conceptualize the world they interact with

Current projects: 

The dynamics of   adjective meaning  with a particular interest  in   compositional semantics  of  non- reality  adjectives like  fake, false, counterfeit, phony,  fictitious.

Metalanguage of non-verbal communication, verbalization of non-verbal means of communication, language manifestation of emotions and nonverbal embodiment of emotions. 

Evidentiality in language and cognition. Types of evidentiality and their lexical realizations in English. Lexico-grammatical patterns of evidential types in English.

Current Courses: 

  • Academic writing  and reading.   The goal of the course is  to     develop   the proficiency  of master students in key areas of 'academic' grammar and vocabulary.
  • Modern theoretical and applied linguistics. The course aims to provide  bachelor students with necessary background in linguistic theory and problems addressed in cutting-edge research in theoretical and applied linguistics and related areas.
  • Research methods and skills course.  The course aims to provide in-depth knowledge of research design and methodology and to train the bachelor  students in writing a study plan and critically reviewing scientific literature.

Supervision of postgraduate students

Under my guidance 6 postgraduate students successfully defended  their  candidate  dissertations  and    received  the academic degree  "Candidate of Sciences". This academic degree may be matched by a Western PhD degree.
