Research areas: national and regional variation of the German language, phraseology, lexical semantics, specific features of the German language in Austria and Switzerland, sociolects, linguocultural studies, dialectology.
Brief biography. In 1984 she successfully defended her candidate dissertation in philology on the topic “The Composition and Character of Phraseology in the Swiss Variant of the Modern German Language” (10.02.04 – Germanic Languages), in 1998 she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation in philology on the topic “The Intra-Systemic Development of Phraseology in German-speaking countries” (10.02.04 – Germanic languages). In 2003 she received the academic title of professor (Department of Germanic Philology). In 2013 she was awarded an honorary diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, in 2016 she was awarded the title “Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation”. As a scientific supervisor L. Kopchuk has prepared a Doctor of Sciences in Philology and 8 Candidates of Sciences in Philology. She is a deputy chairman of the dissertation council 33.2.018.08 of the specialty 5.9.6 “Languages of the peoples of foreign countries (German)” (Philological Sciences) at Herzen University and a member of the Russian council of germanists. The author of over 100 scientific articles (including publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science) and three monographs.
